Hebei Shida Seal Group offers a variety of integrated capabilities and technologies, and our secondary operations and additional services to customized microwave cured rubber extrusions, rubber sealing profiles, weatherstrips and seals include, but are not limited to flocking, urethane slip-coating, pre-applied Butyl adhesive sealant, PSA taping, in-line cutting, drilling, notching, inline printing, special packaging & custom kit assemblies, private label packaging, etc.

EPDM Sponge Rubber Seals with Adhesive

Cut to length

Extruded rubber profiles in continous length are usually supplied to customers in roll(100m per roll), and we can cut the rubber profile to a certain length in line or off line, for example 7.62m(25 feet), or any other length you require for specific application. Each piece is individually packed for easy use.

Drilling

Rubber seals (mainly sponge primary door seal with retaining clips and co-extruded bulb trim seal) often require location holes for clips or air ventilation holes at a regular interval. Hebei Shida Seal Group is equipped with in-line automatic drilling machine that uses hollow bits. The hollow bits pull the drilled portion up into the bit and remove it quickly so the process is highly accutate and efficient.

Splicing

Certain application requires a spliced endless loop for an extruded rubber seal or a weatherstrip with corners. The splicing process is used to achieve the physical integrity of the joint. There are two methods: cold splicing and hot vulcanizing splicing. Cold splicing is simple and relatively less expensive: just bonds the two ends of an extruded rubber profile together using a rubber compatible quick-setting adhesive, and this method is used for static rubber seals which require little to no tension on the splicing portion; Hot vulcanizing splicing (Injection Splicing)involves splice molds and is expensive than cold splicing: place two ends the rubber extrusions in the mold cavity, add uncured rubber-based polymer(usually the same as the rubber extrusion) to the mold cavity, and then pressure the mold at a specific temperature for a period of time. At Hebei Shida Seal Group, hot vulcanizing splicing is used for mostly for jointing corners of primary door seal, windshield weatherstrips, glass run channels, etc; Film Splicing: The film splicing method minimizes waste and improves the economic efficiency of the entire production line. This is a unique process because it is not necessary to apply adhesive thus eliminating the need for flash trimming. Also, inserts are not required for splicing bulb seals, and that allows for faster cycle times in comparison to traditional molding.

Flocking

Flocking is the process of applying fine fibres to an adhesive coated surface. Flock fibres (usually polyester fiber or nylon fiber) are applied electro-statically to a polyurethane coated substrate (rubber substrate). At Hebei Shida Seal Group, flocking is used for friction reduction on glass run channels and inner and outer beltline weatherstrips. The channels have a soft, dense lining and enjoys low friction, fine looking, and excellent air and water tightness.

Urethane Slip-coating (Low Friction)

Rubber extrusions, weatherstrips and seals can have a low friction coating or urethane slip coating applied to the surface of the rubber. The coating which is sprayed (EPDM glass run channel) or co-extruded (TPV glass run channel) onto the surface is highly abrasion resistant and can reduce noise, weathering and wear. At Hebei Shida Seal Group, we apply creative coatings to meet customers needs for high quality weatherseals. For example, we can apply TPE slip-coating to EPDM glass run channel, which has improved abrasion resistance than traditional PU coated glass run chanel.

Pre-applied Butyl Sealant / Butyl Injection

For better insulation properties, we can add / inject Butyl to edge protection sealing profiles, trims, and seals such as door weatherstrips, tailgate seals, edge protectors, EPDM rubber trims, trunk seals, bulb trim seals, rubber edge trims door sealings, can be provided with pre-applied butyl sealant at an additional cost to provide an improved grip and a positive seal with excellent heat reistance.

PSA Taping

Pressure-sensitive adhesives (PSA) and heat-activated taping system (HATS) are applied to rubber extrusions , seals and weatherstrips to achieve specific purpose. In some cases, PSA tape can replace mechanical fastening systems (retaining clips, staples, or nails), and can improve productivity during the final assembly process.Heat-activated tape is constructed by layering materials together that include: an OEM-applied heat-activated adhesive, an acrylic foam core, a high-performance acrylic adhesive and a polyolefin release liner, and HATS adhesive layer provides a secure and durable bond to the rubber profiles and weatherstrips.

Color Matching

Hebei Shida Seal Group offers custom colour matching services for rubber extrusions and weatherstrips. EPDM rubber(dense and sponge) is usually black and we also provide coloured EPDM rubber profiles if you request. Silicone rubber extrusions and molded silicone rubber parts are available in a wide range of colours like red, yellow, orange, blue, etc.

Other secondary operations include partial notching, punching, printing, custom packaging, etc.
