Hot Vulcanising of Rubber Extrusions, Profiles and Seals
Creating Corners and Rings
Rubber extrusions, profiles and seals can be joined to form corners or closed into rings. Hot vulcanising—also called hot splicing—creates a permanent joint between the profile ends.
How the Process Works
A thin foil made from the same rubber material is placed between the ends to be joined. Heat and pressure fuse the foil and profile ends together, producing a vulcanised joint.
A Durable Alternative to Glueing
Film vulcanising is a durable joining method for applications where a lasting connection is required. The process takes longer than glueing, but it forms a permanent bond between the rubber ends.
Applications
Hot vulcanised joints are used to make continuous rubber seals and profiles, as well as neatly joined corners. Matching the foil to the profile material helps create a consistent joint.
