Hebei Shida Seal Group design and manufactures UL Flame Retardant EPDM rubber compounds for a variety of applications. These compounds are available as: spliced and fabricated rubber gaskets, long length rubber extrusions, profiles, and precision extruded and cut seals.

Flame Retardant Rubber Seals

UL 94 V-0 Listed EPDM Rubber Compound:

We offer Flame Retardant EPDM rubber compound certified to UL 94 V-0. The UL 94 V-0 testing covers the flammability characteristics of rubber materials. UL defines the Vertical Burning rate (V0, V1, V2) as the calculation of the vertical burn rate in millimeters per minute. By passing the most difficult V0 rating, our Flame Retardant EPDM rubber compound also exceeds the requirements for V1, V2, and HB and therefore can be considered in such applications.

UL 94 V-0, V-1, & V-2 Requirements

Criteria Conditions

V-0 V-1 V-2
Afterflame – Persistence of flaming of a material, after the ignition source has been removed Afterflame Test – Time for each specification < or = 10s < or = 30s < or = 30s
Total Afterflame Time – The length of time for which a material continues to flame, under specified conditions, after the ignition source has been removed. Total Afterflame Time Test – For 5 samples < or = 50s < or = 250s < or = 250s
Afterglow Time – The length of time for which a material continues to glow under specified test conditions, after the ignition source has been removed and/or cessation of flaming. Afterflame Plus Afterglow Time Test – For each individual specification after second flame application < or = 30s < or = 60s < or = 60s
Afterglow – Persistence of glowing of a material, after cessation of flaming or, if no flaming occurs, after the removal of the ignition source. Test – Afterflame or Afterglow of any specification No No No
Cotton indicator ignited by flaming particles or drops No No Yes

UL 94 HB Requirements

UL 94 HB (Horizontal Burning) is the calculation of the linear burn rate in millimeters per minute.Test – Not to have a burning rate exceeding 75mm per minute over a 75mm for specifications having a thickness less than 3.0mm (0.188”), or cease to burn before the 100mm reference mark.

GB 8410-2006 Scope

This Standard specifies the technical requirements and test methods for the horizontal flammability of automotive interior materials. This Standard applies to the assessment of automotive interior materials.

GB 8410-2006 Technical requirements

The flammability of interior materials must meet the following technical requirement:

The burning rate is not greater than 100 mm/min.

The burning rate of our EPDM rubber seal is far less than 100mm/min.
